
Location
HDA’s Wallingford office is located in grade II listed converted stables within Howbery Park, alongside the River Thames. The historic market town of Wallingford is within easy reach of Oxford to the north, and Reading to the south, where there are direct fast trains to London.

The nearest railway stations to Howbery Park are Cholsey (4.5 miles) and Didcot Parkway (7 miles). GWR operates express train services to Didcot Parkway from London Paddington, Reading, Oxford, Bristol and the west, and local services to Cholsey from Reading, Didcot Parkway and Oxford.
Thames Travel operates an hourly bus service from Cholsey railway station to Howbery Park (service 136) and a half hourly bus services from Didcot Parkway to central Wallingford (service X2). The walk from central Wallingford to Howbery Park takes approximately 15 minutes. Alternatively you can take a taxi from either railway stations, or we can collect visitors from Cholsey station by car.
Thames Travel also operates a frequent ‘River Rapids’ bus service which provides a convenient connection between Reading railway station and Oxford, via Howbery Park (service X39/X40).
For cyclists, routes between Cholsey railway station and Howbery Park take in the region of 20 to 25 minutes.





If you have more time to spare, you could take to the public rights of way through the Oxfordshire countryside on foot. Heading north out of Cholsey will take you on a route past the resting place of Agatha Christie at Saint Mary’s Church and alongside the Cholsey and Wallingford heritage railway, before reaching Wallingford and its Medieval crossing over the River Thames.
Alternatively, head east from Cholsey station until reaching the Thames then continue upstream along the Thames Path National Trail. Check maps carefully, and allow at least an hour and a half to walk between Cholsey station and Howbery Park.
Visting by car
From the A4074, at the Crowmarsh Gifford roundabout, turn towards Crowmarsh Gifford and Wallingford. Follow “The Street” to a mini roundabout and turn right, pass CEH Wallingford on your left until you reach the (signposted) turning into Howbery Park. Continue down the main drive to The Stables buildings. Park in the car park between The Stables and Puddleduck Nursery.
