ALMODINGTON GLASSHOUSES

HDA presented landscape evidence on behalf of Chichester District Council at the planning appeal for plans to build 50 acres of glasshouses in Almodington, on the Manhood Peninsula in West Sussex.
HDA carried out a landscape character and visual assessment, and prepared photomontages, of the proposals which demonstrated that the glasshouses and landscape proposals (totalling over 90 acres) would have a considerable adverse effect on the landscape.
The inspector agreed with HDA, concluding that the proposals would appear as an incongruous feature and restrict views to the South Downs, and dismissed the appeal.
